In 1882 Wilhelm Schimmel learned the craft of piano manufacture at the piano factory Vogel & Sohn in Leipzig. Only three years later, he founded his own piano manufacturing company with great success. Today, Hannes Schimmel -Vogel preserves the family business in the fourth generation. He places emphasis on company expansion and has invested in an additional production site in Kalisz, Poland. Under the stringent management and quality control on the part of Schimmel, this is the production facility for Vogel. Vogel pianos offer a very even and responsive touch and clear sound due to the high quality components that come from Schimmel in Germany. These components include the keys, actions and soundboards. Kalisz is Poland’s oldest city and the center for piano manufacture. It is well known for its excellent craftsmanship and ripe tradition in piano manufacture which has continued down through many generations. The character of Kalisz has been shaped by piano manufacture, the national piano manufacturing school, numerous restoration firms and has become a focal point for piano making specialists. The level of craftsmanship is indeed rare to find today. As a result, Vogel offers some of the most intricate hand inlay and beautiful cabinet styles available today.
