Originally from San Antonio, Ash came to Raleigh by way of Pittsburgh, where she studied music. As a student, she distinguished herself both musically and academically, winning the Duquesne University Mary Pappert School of Music Concerto Competition and graduating with honors. Following her education, Ash lived and worked in Pittsburgh, establishing a dynamic career with involvement in almost every aspect of music. As a pianist she served as music director for Port Vue United Methodist Church and later for West Hempfield Presbyterian Church. In addition to teaching at Hope Academy and Indiana University of Pennsylvania’s Community Music School, she developed her own studio, Pappal Music, with class offerings for Musikgarten, an early childhood music program, as well as private lessons for flute, piano, and music theory. In addition to freelance and chamber work, Ash played flute with Undercroft Opera and Edgewood Symphony Orchestra. She also worked in management for the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. Ash brings a keen eye (and ear!) for details to the office, and is delighted to be a part of the Ruggero Piano team. Ash’s favorite pastimes are reading, hiking, swimming in the ocean, snuggling her dog, and playing duets with her husband.
