Community Support

Supporting the community has always been one of our top priorities. Through concerts at Bosendorfer Hall, fundraisers, providing pianos for events, and education, we continue to take an active role in the community through our shared passion for pianos, music, and the arts.

Supporting the arts, 88 keys at a time

By David Menconi, The News & Observer

If you’ve ever attended a classical concert or church service involving a high-end piano, chances are good that Ruggero Piano supplied or at least tuned it. There’s an even better chance it was a low-cost rental (or even no-cost, if for a charitable event), which is a major reason that Ruggero Piano won a Medal of Arts lifetime-achievement award from the city of Raleigh earlier this fall…

We are so excited to share this incredible Make-A-Wish story with you! Patrick, age 14, wished to have a piano. He wanted to continue developing his skills in something he loved after a difficult battle with cancer. Thanks to the support of his teacher, Jessica, and Make-A-Wish of Eastern NC, Patrick and his family were able to have an incredible day at Ruggero Piano and make memories they’ll never forget. Patrick hopes to be able to volunteer to play at the hospital where he received treatment one day – we can’t wait for that day to come! Congratulations, Patrick, on your brand new Yamaha U3 upright piano!

Community Music School is committed to creating brighter futures through music. We are excited to be at our new home in Southeast Raleigh, and have a tremendous partner in Ruggero Piano. As part of the Tom McGuire Education Initiative, small classes have been introduced as part of our Journeys tier of programming. With the donation of the Yamaha Digital Piano Lab, CMS is growing its vision of offering innovative, high-quality after school music programming to students with limited resources. The lab will offer students opportunities to engage with each other and professional faculty in new ways. By leveraging the Yamaha technology, classes can capture the excitement of peer-to-peer learning, personalized instruction and musical discovery, allowing students to maximize learning at their own pace. We are thrilled to see how Yamaha and Ruggero Piano are dedicated to instilling the life-long appreciation of the arts in our students and families. This is changing lives one student at a time. - Dennis de Jong, Executive Director of Community Music School
